Fees and Insurance
Individual sessions are billed at $185 for 53 minutes. Couples/relationship therapy is $200 for 60 minutes, or $270 for 80 minutes. Your first session includes a diagnostic assessment and is billed at $225 (53-60 minutes) or $295 (80 minutes).
Although it's not possible to predict how long you will be in therapy before your treatment is complete, under the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of how much your treatment is expected to cost.
I am out of network with all insurance carriers. This means that you pay me directly for services, and I do not bill your insurance company on your behalf. I can provide you with a detailed receipt ("superbill") that may allow you to be reimbursed for some or all of the cost for your therapy through your health plan's out-of-network benefits. In order to avoid any negative surprises, I recommend you contact your insurance carrier to verify what kind of coverage you have for out-of-network psychotherapy services before we begin treatment.
Questions to ask your health insurance company about your out-of-network benefits:
- What is the allowed amount for the services you'll receive? Here is some information you can provide to learn about this:
- CPT codes for initial session: 90791, individual sessions: 90837, family or relationship therapy sessions: 90847.
- They may need a diagnosis in order to access this information, even though all diagnoses that they consider billable are reimbursed at the same rate. Here is a sample code you can provide that is considered billable: F43.23, Adjustment Disorder with Mixed Anxiety and Depressed Mood. (This probably goes without saying, but this is not a blanket diagnosis I use for every client - each person is evaluated after we meet.)
- If you are seeking couples/relationship therapy, you'll want to clarify whether your plan allows this and under what conditions.
- What is the amount of your out-of-network deductible, out-of-network co-insurance after deductible is met, and your out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum.
- Please note that insurance plans typically will not reimburse for sex therapy without a billable mental health diagnosis.

Before your first appointment, I will ask that you complete some intake paperwork prior to our session. This allows us to devote more of your session time to discussing your concerns.
